Carbon monoxide and you – the risks and how to keep safe

Home Carbon monoxide and you – the risks and how to keep safe

Is there carbon monoxide (CO) in your home? You probably wouldn’t know if there was. Knowing more about CO, what causes it and how to prevent it can help keep you safe.

The silent killer as it is also known, carbon monoxide is produced when fuels including oil, coal and wood, don’t burn completely. A blocked chimney or ill-fitted stove or appliance can also cause a build up of CO.

Because it has no colour, taste or smell, it is very hard to detect, which is why it is essential to have a detector fitted.
