    Clearing chimneys other sweeps couldn’t

    By Joanne Murphy | Uncategorised | 0 comment | 21 December, 2019 | 0

Dorset Chimney Sweep has recently attended a couple of call-outs from people who have had sweeps check (and charge) for a sweep without actually doing the job properly, or where they have wrongly advised the customer.

This week we visited a customer in Dorset who couldn’t use her stove due to some sort of blockage in the chimney.  Another sweep had inspected and advised that there was a nest in the flue, and he would have to remove the stove and fittings to remove the blockage.

On inspection, this wasn’t the case. It took two hours, but we cleared a six-foot nest through a 4 inch access in the stove pipe without removing the stove.  It was a particularly tricky one as the nest was packed with wet mud.

The customer was delighted – “I can’t believe that Martin, and can’t thank you enough. I’m so happy our stove can be lit on Christmas Day. Fantastic job”

And I’m happy that the customer can light their stove on Christmas Day!

If you don’t feel that you have been advised correctly or just simply want a second opinion or further information, contact us and we’ll happily help out.  We will never carry out work without a thorough inspection and will let you know up front any work required to keep your chimney and stove clean and safe.
