Can you burn your Christmas tree on your fire or in your wood burner?
NO! (yes we are shouting from the page)
It’s time for the Christmas tree to be taken down, but what do you do with it? We’ll tell you what not to do with it, and that’s burn it!
Christmas trees contain a lot of sap and in some cases, chemicals, which can create a burning hazard as they burn too fast and too hot for many domestic burners and stoves. If the tree has dried out (they usually do), the needles will ignite very fast. This can damage the chimney or stove, and these flames could also set fire very quickly to any build-up of soot in your chimney, leading to a chimney fire.
Trees can be recycled or mulched, which is great for the environment, and a much safer option.
