We are now offering a new service for home-buyers, to ensure that the chimney/flue and fireplace in their potential new home is safe and free from problems before they purchase the property.
A couple of recent surveys we’ve done for new home-owners have revealed many problems. One owner asked us to sweep the chimney after they had moved in to their thatched cottage. We carried out CCTV in the flue which revealed a cracked liner (see photo). This is costly to replace and the customer said he had wished he’d contacted me before completing the sale of the property.
Inspections carried out before completing on the sale of a property ensures any problems with the chimney or fireplace are identified, and will allow you to raise this with the vendors.
