Experience has shown that people spend a considerable amount on property surveys, but don’t include the chimney.  We’ve been called to houses that have just been purchased to undertake a standard sweep.  On inspection we’ve identified issues from cracked fire bricks and damaged cowls to split flue liners and dangerous glassed tarred flues– this can cost several hundreds of pounds to fix, which could have been saved from the property purchase price, if you had found out in time!
