Is your wood ready to burn?

    By Joanne Murphy | Uncategorised | 0 comment | 23 February, 2020 | 0

We see it all the time.  Chimneys that are suffering from the burning of the wrong types of fuel (or indeed things like plastic, wrapping paper etc. which is damaging to the flue and the environment).

Now the sale of poor, low quality fuel is going to be regulated.  This is great news for our industry as it will help to raise standards.

It isn’t the wood burners that are bad for us (contrary to some headlines), but what we put in them. Low quality fuel, such as wet wood and coal is damaging to the environment, and also for your stove and chimney.  Dry, quality wood is ready to burn, and is more efficient and environmentally friendly.

We fully support the ‘Ready to burn’ campaign, setting high standards for dry fuel from sustainable, quality wood suppliers.  We also support using DEFRA approved and SIA EcoDesign 2022 stoves which have been designed in such a way that they burn off damaging particulates before entering the flue.

For more information on what to burn and how to help the environment and keep your stove and chimney healthy, visit www.readytoburn.org.
