    OUR COVID-19 STATEMENT – MAY 2020

Chimney sweeping during and after the COVID-19 crisis

Although many households use solid fuel appliances like wood burners as a form of secondary heating, chimney sweeping is not deemed as essential works in this current crisis.

Following Government advice, Dorset Chimney Sweep (DCS) remains closed during this lockdown period.

However, we are working towards offering all customers a ‘Zero Contact’ appointment, which will be available as soon as we are legally allowed to operate.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be contacting every customer who is due a sweep (or overdue) and offering an appointment at a date and time to suit. Future bookings will also be taken.  If you are work for the NHS or are an essential worker, please click here.

    Keeping you safe

On our arrival, we’ll be adopting the following process to ensure zero contact:

    • All sweep equipment and sheeting will be thoroughly cleaned before and after use, per household
    • PPE will be worn at all times
    • Zero-contact access to the appliance will be required
    • Sweep certificates will be posted or emailed to the customer
    • Cash payments to be left in an envelope or payment made via bank transfer

We anticipate a busy return and would like to encourage sweep appointment enquiries through our website. We will ensure every achievable safety measure is in place during our visit – we would rather go above and beyond guidelines to keep you and ourselves safe.

Additional costs have been incurred as a result; however, no price increases will be passed on to our customers as we value your support and want to ensure that you keep your appliance safe too.

Thank you for your valued custom. We look forward to contacting you shortly.

If you need advice or information, or have any concerns about your chimney or fireplace, please check out the information here on our website, or give us a call.

    Stay safe!
