We also replace the flaunching (the mortar that holds the pot in place). If it becomes cracked or weakened, it can let water in, which could lead to the chimney pot becoming loose. No one wants a chimney pot to fall down! - Fitting new cowls
A cowl is important for a number of reasons. There are different types for various applications, including keeping the rain out, helping to improve the draw and be more efficient, and to prevent birds from getting into the chimney and nesting.
